On This Day in American History
On September 19, 1995, The New York Times and Washington Post publish the 35,000-word “manifesto” written by Unabomber Ted Kaczynski. Kaczynski, an anti-technology terrorist who, for 17 years, had been sending homemade bombs through the mail, killing three and injuring over 20. After reading the manifesto, Kaczynski’s brother, David, recognized the writing style as his brother’s. Kaczynski was captured, convicted and sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole.
