When I started the third stage of my life in 1993, I was 63-year old. The most part of my work was to deal with the problem of what is called gthe regulation of the minimum number of trucksh in the Japanese trucking industry. My target was to make an advocacy of the abolishment of the regulation so that the owner operator, or independent trucker, could be practiced in this country like America and almost all over the world.
I wrote articles, firstly, concerning this problem, as written before, and then a 15-time series of my article on my one-month US investigation trip to surprise the readers of the journal throughout the country, which brought some business opportunities of having contracts for consulting with three trucking companies.
If I were to edit the articles which I have written up to this day, it would be as big as some a dozen books in the volume. The most of them have been posted in the website that I opened in March 2003.
One of the highlights of my writings is the publication of a book in the true sense of the word, is gThe Way for the Professionals for the Truck Driversh with 364-page, by Bungeisha, Shinjuku Tokyo. It was in March, 2004.
I have a hidden story about this publication. In the beginning of the third stage of my life, an idea was in my mind to publish a book which is good for the introduction of the lecturer. This thought came to me when I was having opportunities of lecturing in various parts of the country. The sponsor of the lecture meeting advised me to publish a book that works as the lecturerfs self-introduction.
However, one of my friends who was one of the executives of the publishing company, Bungeisha, advised me that the one is more needed for me to try to write a book that is more significant for the trucking industry labor and management, especially in relationship with what I am trying to introduce to the industry, the new system. This shifted my plan to publish the said one, and he was right.
What I aimed at by this book was to let the industry labor and management know of the needs and trends of the new era to be ready for.
It consists of seven chapters. The first one begins with gWhat would be the most happiest thing for a person to live for?h, in the first verse of gHow wonderful it is to be able to live with what you like to do, the driving!h I put an emphasis on the safety driving lesson in being a good driver rather than trying to concentrate the technical way only.
A friend of mine gave me a comment after reading it by saying, gThe writerfs philosophy resembles that of John Mainard Kyne, who wrote, gIt is much more important how to be rather than how to do.h Needless to say, if replaced with my philosophy, it would be something like, gIt is much more important how to be a good driver rather than how to drive well.h I would have inserted the world famous scholarfs phrase in my book.
